Useful country information

Visa Requirements
EU citizens as well as citizens of Iceland, Norway and Switzerland do not require a visa to enter in Spain.

Non-EU citizens:
All Non-EU citizens require a visa. However, avisa is not required for visits of up to 90 days in an 180 day period for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement.

You may apply for short stay visas (Schengen Visas) at diplomatic missions. For further information, please click here.

Currency
The currency used in Seville and in the rest of Spain is Euro.

Money can be exchanged at exchange bureaus and banks. Banks usually charge a commission, and the exchange rate is less profitable. To find the most up todate exchange rate go to XE.com Currency Converter.

Generally, in Spain banking hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm. There are some variations to this, some opening on Saturdays until 1pm. All major credit cards are accepted in Spain and traveler’s checks are accepted in many places.

Tipping and Tax
Service charges are included in the bill. You are free to tip if you are very pleased: you would typically leave the small change after paying with a note. Maybe at the most touristy places they expect you to give some extra, but Spanish people do not commonly do it.

VAT is-not-included is a common trick for mid-range and splurge restaurants: always check in menu whether VAT (10%, IVA in Spanish) is included in menu prices.

Language
Spanish is the official language in all over the country. In some regions of Spain there are a number of other languages like: Catalan, Basque, Galician, Asturian, etc.

In touristical regions and bigger cities such as Seville, you will habe no problems to communicate in English.

Time
Seville is located in the Central European Time Zone (CET) which is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Weather
Andalucía is the most southern area of Europe. It has a wonderful climate, with plentiful sun all year round. The average temperature runs from 15°C in February to 40°C in August.

Seville enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate and is one of the warmest cities in Europe, with an average temperature throughout the year of 18ºC. Winters are mild, January being the coldest month with temperatures ranging between 4ºC and 13 ºC.

Summers are quite hot in Seville, especially during July and August when temperatures reach 37ºC, and even 40ºC in certain days. Rainfall happens mainly between October and April, December is likely to be the month with more rain.

Electricity
Electricity in Poland is 230 V, 50 Hz AC. Plug sockets are round with two round-pin sockets. Therefore if you are coming from the US, UK or Ireland you are definitely going to need a plug converter.

Telephones & Internet
The international phone code for Spain is +34 and Seville -95.
Public places like airports, universities, libraries, restaurants and cafés may offer "free"-WiFi Hotspots.

Health
All visitors are advised to have valid international insurance before coming to Spain. Citizens of the EU are insured with their EHIC (European Health Insurance Card).
